Call for Commencement Marchers

Thank you to the faculty and professional staff who have already registered to march in Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 19. Many additional marchers are needed for all three ceremonies to make the 146th Commencement a momentous occasion for the Class of 2018. Honor our graduates and welcome their guests to campus and register to march.

Degree candidates attend ceremonies by school:

  • 9:00 a.m. Baccalaureate Ceremony: School of Education, School of the Professions
  • 1:00 p.m. Baccalaureate Ceremony: School of Arts and Humanities, School of Natural and Social Sciences, Individualized Studies
  • 5:00 p.m. Graduate School Ceremony: Master's Degrees, Certificates of Advanced Study

Faculty members are to march with their schools, and graduate faculty are to also march in the graduate ceremony. This includes adjunct faculty members—please march and join in the celebration!

Hooders are assigned by department and are also to register online once they receive their assignments. Professional staff members who are not volunteer ushering are encouraged to march in one or more ceremonies of their choice. Please contact Patricia Alessandra, commencement director for academics, with any questions.

A note on regalia: The deadline for ordering regalia for Commencement with guaranteed hood colors and standard charges was April 20, as announced previously in the Daily. Marchers may contact Marybeth Keller, general merchandise manager in the Barnes & Noble at Buffalo State Bookstore, for any current rental options if still needed. Also, Academic Affairs offers a limited inventory of regalia for loan; requests can be made through the online order form.

Volunteer ushers are greatly needed on Commencement day as well. Please register online. Ushers do not wear regalia.

The Buffalo State Class of 2018 and their families thank you!
