The Undergraduate Admissions Office at Buffalo State is hosting its annual Class Visit Program February 21–23. This unique initiative is an invitation-only event for high school seniors who have been accepted to Buffalo State College that allows them to attend an actual class alongside currently enrolled students. For many students, the class visit proves to be the decisive factor in their decision to attend Buffalo State. Recent data from 2014–2017 shows that 66 percent of participants not only deposit but also enroll.
This year's program has had the largest RSVP count to date, with over 500 students and parents expected over the three days, which will include five programs. While students are in class during the morning sessions, parents participate in Q&A panel discussions, where they can pose questions to representatives from Financial Aid, Residence Life, the Career Development Center, University Police, and Academic Commons. Over 30 academic instructors have allotted seats for our accepted students.
The Class Visit program will be hosted primarily in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall starting at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday and Friday, and at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday. In addition to our traditional morning visits, we will also host a special edition Honors Class Visit as well, a unique collaboration involving the Muriel A. Howard Honors Program.
The program will feature alumni speakers Shawn McKirchy on Thursday and Latrese Myers on Friday. Special thanks to the following people for their outstanding support of this year's program: David Loreto, director of undergraduate admissions; Erin Alonzo, associate vice president for enrollment management; James Mayrose, interim CIO and vice president for enrollment, marketing, and communications; and Mary-Jo Jagord, director of Alumni Affairs; as well as Amy McMillan, interim director of the Muriel A. Howard Honors Program, and the outstanding Buffalo State faculty for affording seats in their classes for our accepted students.
For more information, please contact Ken Robinson, assistant director of early outreach programming and coordinator of the Class Visit Program, 878-5024.
