Sichuan University Troupe to Perform Saturday, February 18

As part of the Chinese New Year celebration, the Center for China Studies has invited the Sichuan University Troupe to perform for the Buffalo State community and local residents on Saturday, February 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Warren Enters Theatre. The show is free and open to the public.

The Sichuan University performers will present classical Chinese songs, music, dance, and Sichuan opera (face-mask change). This event will showcase the joyous and harmonious atmosphere in which the Chinese people celebrate their most important festival and will bridge understandings about China and its culture.

Established in 1999 as one of the earliest university troupes in the western part of China, the Sichuan University Troupe is highly regarded for its unique performances depicting life from that part of the country. Its well-received programs have been shown around the world.

Questions can be directed to Zhang Jie, professor of sociology and director of the Center for China Studies, ext. 6425. We hope to see as many students and faculty as possible at this cultural event.
