Patrice Cathey, Director, Precollegiate Academic Success Center

August 1, 2017, was named Patrice Cathey Day by a City of Buffalo Executive Chamber Proclamation. During her time at Buffalo State, Cathey has developed partnerships with numerous programs and departments at Buffalo State, with the Buffalo Public Schools, and in the community. The proclamation was presented at the Buffalo Engineering Awareness for Minorities (BEAM) Program’s 20th annual Golf Classic Fundraiser in recognition of her outstanding leadership and commitment to encouraging high school students to pursue higher education.

Cathey was recently named director of Precollegiate Programs at Buffalo State. Her new duties include overseeing the STEP and Upward Bound programs and the operation of the Precollegiate Academic Success Center. (PASC). These duties are in addition to her responsibilities as director of the Liberty Partnerships Program, a position she has held since 2001. Cathey served as principal grant writer for the Liberty Partnerships Program proposal, which was recently awarded $2.25 million for the 2017–2022 grant cycle. Cathey also coauthored the Upward Bound grant proposal, which recently received just over $2 million for 2017–2022.
