Zhengzhou University of Light Industry and Buffalo State College have partnered to offer students a summer China exchange opportunity June 19July 3, 2017. This trip will include an introduction to traditional Chinese arts such as calligraphy, folk music, and paper cutting. All program in-country costs (accommodations, meals, insurance, domestic transportation, etc.) will be covered. Students are responsible for round-trip airfare to Zhengzhou Airport (CGO) arriving June 19 and departing from Shanghai (PVG) July 3; they must also obtain a tourist visa ($150) and Geo Blue health insurance ($24), for an estimated total of $1,500.
To apply for the program, students should send an essay of no more than one page by Friday, April 28, addressing how this experience will affect their academic work and professional goals. Students are encouraged to have a current valid passport when they apply. Students should address essays to Dr. Robert Summers, assistant dean of International and Exchange Programs, and e-mail the essays to Tricia Herritt, director of international education.
