Black History Month Event: 'The Necessity of Race Conversations' - Friday, February 22, 3:00 p.m.

Please join the African and African American studies program at Buffalo State for a discussion about race and identity in honor of Black History Month 2013 at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 22, in Ketchum Hall 113. Noelle Chaddock Paley, director of the Multicultural Life and Diversity Office and adjunct professor of Africana studies at SUNY Cortland, will invite attendees to problematize current suggestions that the United States has entered an era of colorblindness and postraciality. As Paley suggests, "We will never move forward in the United States, we will never experience true inclusion of any marginal group, until we have foundational conversations about race."
