Jeffrey Hirschberg, associate professor and director of the television and film arts program, was one of 20 filmmakers selected from across the country to receive a full scholarship titled "20/20/20." The program, sponsored by NYC-based Killer Films and Stony Brook Southampton, enabled 20 filmmakers to direct 20 short films in 20 days in Southampton, New York.
Hirschberg's film, Why Can't They All Be Like Johnny Depp? was based on his feature screenplay of the same name (story by Hirschberg and Mark Williams), which was a winner in the WGA Screenplay Reading Series in 2010.
