'The War on Science' - April 16

Buffalo State welcomes Shawn Otto, novelist, screenwriter, and cofounder and chair of sciencedebate.org, who will speak on his latest book, The War On Science: Who’s Waging It, Why It Matters, What We Can Do About It, on Saturday, April 16, at 10:30 a.m. in the Burchfield Penney Art Center's Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Auditorium.

One of the foremost writers on science and public policy, Otto is also a filmmaker best known for writing and co-producing the Oscar-nominated film House of Sand and Fog. He lives in Minnesota, in a passive solar, geothermal, wind-powered home he designed and built with his own hands. All are welcome—especially students and teachers. This is a great opportunity to hear from one of the greatest supporters of science in our time. The event is free, but seating is limited. Registration is required.

This event is sponsored by the School of Education, the School of Natural and Social Sciences, the Master Teacher Program, and the Grant Allocation Committee.
