The Western New York Chapter of the American Meteorological Society will sponsor the second of its spring 2016 seminar series presentations, Severe Weather Coverage and a Day in the Life of a TV Meteorologist, by WGRZ Channel 2 meteorologist Jennifer Stanonis, on Tuesday, April 19, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Science Building 272.
Stanonis moved to Western New York in 2005, when she started forecasting on Buffalo television. She has covered most severe weather events here since that time, anchoring in the studio and reporting out in the field, including the pre-Thanksgiving lake effect "Snowvember" storm of 2014, the October snowstorm of 2006, the Cheektowaga tornado of 2006, and numerous damaging snow and wind events. She has earned the highest weather seal possible for meteorology in television, the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) Weather Seal, given by the American Meteorological Society. Stanonis has a meteorology degree from the College at Brockport.
