Christina Kennison, lecturer of English and writing in Academic Support Programs, has published her article "Students' Writing Can Be Better: Encouragement and Time to Pursue Self Leads to Engagement and Better Writing, Resulting in Possible Increased Writing Levels Nationally" in the inaugural issue of the peer-reviewed Journal of Literacy Innovation (spring 2016; PDF, 1 MB).
In her article, Kennison draws upon a wide variety of current research and her own experiences, beginning with the discussion of why students' writing must progress, and then presents a nuanced examination of the reasons why students may feel held back in their academic writing, as well as her own strategies for helping students engage in the writing process.
Kennison is also an author of speculative fiction for children and adults, as well as an editor for the Roycroft Print Shop in East Aurora.
