Peter M. Carey, chief of police and Amy M. Pedlow, assistant chief of police, served as presenters at the annual National Behavioral Intervention Team Association (NABITA) Conference in San Antonio, Texas, on November 14. They made their presentation along with Kimberly Brunell, J.D., supervisory special agent, Federal Bureau of InvestigationBehavioral Analysis Unit, and Brent Isaacson, M.S., special agent, Federal Bureau of InvestigationBuffalo Field Office.
The presentation was a case study of a threat assessment and risk of violence by a university student. The case study described the complete threat assessment process from initial behavior, a forensic psychiatric evaluation, a FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) threat assessment, criminal investigation, arrest, prosecution, and community safety.
