Philanthropic Proposal Reminder

From the Vice President for Institutional Advancement
Please note that any philanthropic foundation or corporate grant proposal must be approved by the college’s Development Office before it is submitted to the funding agency. The Development Office will assist in assembling the proposal by providing institutional information, requested attachments such as the IRS determination letter, or audited financial statements; writing cover letters and securing required signatures; professionally editing the proposal or recommending revisions; and ensuring that the appropriate dean, vice president, and/or the president are aware of the request.

Additionally, if a faculty member has a program or project that needs funding, the development staff will help identify potential funders. Faculty and staff members should not contact a foundation or business to request funding independently—all requests for proposals must originate from the Institutional Advancement Office.

All state and federal government grant requests or requests for research contracts should continue to be submitted through the Research Foundation.

If you have a project or idea that could benefit from external funding, please contact Mary Dwyer, associate vice president for development, ext. 3141.
