Buffalo Ladies in Philosophy (BLIP) held its first workshop on Saturday, September 19, in Rockwell Hall. Paper topics covered a diverse range of topics: “The Constitution of Sexuality in the Commodity Model of Sex"; “The Life and Death of Cecil the Lion"; “Meaningful Lives as Significant Lives”; and “Motherhood and the Profession.” Buffalo State Philosophy and Humanities faculty members Kimberly Blessing, professor, and Leigh Duffy, lecturer, were among the presenters. BLIP is a consortium of professional female philosophers and graduate students from six colleges and universities in Western New York: Buffalo State, UB, Canisius, Niagara, D'Youville, and Daemen. BLIP is planning another workshop for the spring. In the meantime, the group will continue its monthly meetings at Campus House at Buffalo State.
