Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America Training: Today

Buffalo State will host nationally renowned experts from Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) for the training “Community, Coalitions, and Connections: WNY Working Together” today from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center.

The event is sponsored by Px21 (a group of Erie County substance-abuse prevention and mental health providers, formerly called Px20) and the West Side Youth Development Coalition (WSYDC) in partnership with Buffalo State's Center for Health and Social Research (CHSR) with support from the Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation. The goals are to build capacity, increase effectiveness, help local coalitions and community groups work more effectively on their goals, and realize the benefits of working together. The training will help align various methods of community work, and participants will learn the principles of the strategic prevention framework. While the training has some orientation toward substance-abuse prevention, the principles at the heart of the training have broad applicability to coalition work aimed at healthier communities in general.

The fee for this training is $10 to help cover the cost of food (breakfast and lunch for all participants) and training materials. Please note: no-cost scholarships are available on request.

Please call CHSR at ext. 6137 with any questions or for registration details.
