Tell Students: Dr. Aaron Podolefsky AmeriCorps Fellowship Programs

The Dr. Podolefsky AmeriCorps Fellowship programs are currently accepting applications for two different terms of service: summer 2014–fall 2014 or fall 2014–spring 2015. The fellowship programs offer unique opportunities for students to gain valuable experience working with children and youth. Fellows work in collaboration with school and community partners to provide academic enrichment and tutoring to K–12 students and young adults through summer and after-school programs.

Fellows also receive course credit and a monetary education award that they can apply toward educational expenses as recognition for their service. The service commitment and monetary award vary depending on the fellowship program: $1,175 for 300 hours of service; $2,114 for 675 hours of service. The 675-hour positions are restricted to education majors who will be student teaching in the second semester of their term of service to fulfill service hours.

Finally, fellows may have the opportunity to be employed by community partner organizations.

The Dr. Podolefsky AmeriCorps Fellows programs have been made possible through the generous support of Eleanore Woods Beals, ’50, and Vaughn Beals.

For more information or an application, please contact Diane Mercuri or Gina Pannozzo, Ph.D., in the CEURE office, Caudell Hall 107, ext. 3610.
