College students interested in careers in public relations or advertising are invited to attend Communications Career Day on Saturday, April 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Burchfield Penney Art Center's Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Auditorium.
The annual event is organized by the Buffalo Niagara chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and the Advertising Club of Buffalo, with assistance from the Buffalo State chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.
The event will feature two panel discussions with local PR and advertising professionals: one on cover letters, résumés, portfolios, and internships; and the second on acing a job interview. One-on-one résumé review sessions will be offered after each panel discussion.
Following the second panel discussion, keynote speaker Jessica Schimert will discuss "Building Your Personal Brand." Her presentation will be followed by a speed networking session with 10 local public relations and advertising professionals. Representatives from PRSA, the Advertising Club, and local colleges with graduate programs in communication also will be on hand.
