Student teaching and practicums are common experiences for education students. Less common, however, are the experiences of a select group of Buffalo State students—students in the School of Education’s International PDS Initiatives. These initiatives give students the opportunity to travel, study, and work for two to three weeks in Chile, the Dominican Republic, Zambia, or, just recently, Germany. These field-experience modules give students intensive language and culture training, as well as a more global perspective on education.
E. H. Butler Library is excited to host a panel with some of these students from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in Butler Library 210. The students will share their stories and experiences and answer questions from the audience. A reception with the students will follow from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. There will also be information about future international initiatives from the School of Education. This event is in honor of the Year of the Teacher at Buffalo State and will celebrate the fieldwork and experiences of the next generation of teachers. In addition to the panel, the library will also have an exhibit on the history of education at Buffalo State.
