Presentation: Peace Corps Experience in Mozambique by Safiyya Hunter

Come and meet Safiyya Hunter and listen to her Peace Corps experience in Mozambique as a community health promoter on Thursday, November 14, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m (Bengal Pause) in Classroom Building B209. She will share her stories of Mozambique and practical advice on how to apply to the Peace Corps.

Hunter graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2009 with a B.A. in social science and a concentration in health and human services and community mental health. While at UB, she was an active member of SBI Health Education, where she was an HIV counselor for students and a supervisor for on-campus safety services. She went on to join the Peace Corps in 2010. Hunter was assigned as a community health promoter in Mozambique, where she served for two years. She lived in the rural village of Nova Mambone, Inhambane, and worked with a faith-based organization called AKUGO that focused on home-based care for people living with HIV or AIDS.

Please contact Kyeonghi Baek or Mayra Velez-Serrano with question or for more information.
