Maria Cerprano, Professor, and Nancy Chicola, Associate Professor, Elementary Education and Reading

Maria Ceprano, professor, and Nancy Chicola, associate professor, Elementary Education and Reading, presented “Teacher Candidates Engaging Families in Cross-Cultural Connections” at the 2009 Professional Development Schools National Conference in Daytona Beach, Florida, March 12-15. Their presentation described how junior practitioners in sections of their social studies methods course collaborated in producing a multicultural literacy fair at the Enterprise Charter School last spring. Chicola and Ceprano were joined in their presentation by Amanda Yard, an administrator at the school. A global literacy event involving junior practitioners in their current classes is scheduled for Thursday, April 24, at Enterprise Charter School.
