SUNY Grants for Explorations in Diversity and Academic Excellence

From the Senior Adviser to the President for Equity and Campus Diversity
The SUNY Office of Diversity and Educational Equity invites applications for grants to support innovative approaches that illuminate and strengthen the intersections between diversity and academic excellence. Awards of up to $10,000 will support campus-based projects for the period July 1, 2009, to June 30, 2010. Projects eligible for funding include improving the campus environment, access and success for students, course development and pedagogical innovations, conferences and symposiums, film and speaker series, recruitment and retention of diverse faculty, campus-community dialogues, and campus surveys that could be used to further any of the above.

Proposals that promote collaboration among campus units (e.g., interdepartmental, faculty-student organizations, or administrative-departmental) are especially encouraged. Successful proposals will demonstrate the project’s long-term impact on campus diversity, include a detailed budget, and identify additional sources of funding. Applications are due by Friday, June 5. For additional information, contactDolores E. Battle, senior adviser to the president for equity and campus diversity, Cleveland Hall 415, 878-6210.
