This spring semester, the Mathematics Department is piloting a new introductory-level math course titled "Functions and Modeling" that carries Intellectual Foundations credit. It is designed for students who have had three years of high school mathematics but not at a level that has prepared them for MAT 124: Precalculus or beyond. Students who plan to take a future statistics course in their major or who enjoy seeing mathematics as connected to the world around them will benefit from this course. In the spring, the course number will be MAT 189, but in future semesters it will be MAT 114.
