Posted: Friday, August 17, 2007Monday, August 20: Emergency Response Training, Active Shooter Simulation
On Monday, August 20, the University Police Department, working with the Buffalo Police Department, will be conducting an Emergency Response Training drill. In the Classroom Building the fire alarm will sound at approximately 1:00 p.m. alerting everyone in the Classroom Building to evacuate for about an hour to accommodate the training. Buildings in close proximity to the Classroom Building—Weigel Health Center, the Sports Arena, and the Science Building—may be affected. For this training exercise, you may see police action, victims, and perpetrators in the area of the Classroom Building. Do not be alarmed—this is a simulated event.
The goal of this exercise is to train first responders in the event of a shooting, terrorist attack, fire, or other critical incident on campus. We are fortunate to have University Police and other trained support staff on campus, an ongoing partnership with the Buffalo Police Department, and a continually updated and tested Emergency Response Plan.
If you have questions, please contact the University Police Department at ext. 6333.
