Lasers in Art Conservation

Dr. Seyffie Maleki of Union College will give a seminar on "Lasers in Art Conservation" on November 12 at 12:30 p.m. in Science Building 205. Since its invention about half a century ago, the laser has been used in numerous applications from pure scientific research to commercial, military, and medical use. So it may not be surprising to find that lasers have also found uses in the field of art conservation. In this talk, Dr. Maleki will discuss the many ways that we now use lasers in art conservation to record, analyze, and restore works of art. He will also discuss how the multidisciplinary nature of art conservation research has provided him with opportunities to explore his personal interests in physics and the arts here in Buffalo.
