Information Security Awareness: Social Media and Your Money

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) continues to warn us about clicking on ads and making purchases through social media. When you see an advertisement while perusing Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or any other website, don’t click on the advertisement. If you are interested in the product, open another browser window, search for the company or product, and check it out without clicking on the advertisement. Use your skills to check the URL and vet the site to ensure it is legitimate before buying.

Please read the FTC blog post (it’s short). If you’re rushed, scroll to the end of the article for specific information on what to do and what not to do.
