Information Security Awareness: Personal Integrity

Securing others' personal integrity is one defense against cybercrime. Mistakes can damage personal integrity and hurt our institution. Do you send information via e-mail to students or about students? It’s easy to mistype and misdirect information that is either proprietary to the campus or private about an individual to the wrong person. For example, you may want to send an e-mail to Jack Simpson, but the Al Simpson in your address book comes up first, and you select this one without thinking. Please always double-check the address line of your e-mail to verify the recipient before sending. Make sure that you’re sending the e-mail to Jack and not to Al. Make sure you are not sending someone’s personal information to another by mistake.
