The IRS has issued an alert to all human resource and payroll professionals regarding an e-mail phishing scheme.
The e-mail pretends to be from a senior administrator or the president of the organization, asking for payroll data, including W-2 forms. If you receive an e-mail from what appears to be a senior administrator asking for lists of employees, payroll data, W-2 information, or any employee information, always double-check.
