See how your building is doing as far as recycling. The last nine months have been charted to reflect the amounts of paper, cardboard, and plastic/glass/metal recycled by building.
Many things can be recycled on campus, including the following:
> Electronic media, e.g., printer and toner cartridges, tapes, disks, CDs, DVDs, and cell phones can be recycled in the red electronic-media bins located in each department.
> Glass, plastic, and metal can be recycled in green bins. Empty, rinse, and wipe out all food containers.
> Paper and cardboard can be recycled in blue bins. Flatten cardboard boxes and packaging.
> State equipment, e.g., copy machines, fax machines, printers, chairs, desks, and tables, should be reported on a surplus form, available on the Business Services website.
> Hardcover books should be placed in boxes. Call Business Services, ext. 6835, for pickup.
> Softcover books should be placed in blue (paper) bins.
>Batteries:
- Lead-acid batteries: call Environmental Health and Safety, ext. 6128, for pickup
- Household batteries (including nickel-cadmium and lithium-ion): place in red electronic-media recycling bins.
> Fluorescent lightbulbs are collected by custodial staff.
> Mercury-containing items, such as thermostats, thermometers, and medical or scientific instruments: call Environmental Health and Safety, ext. 6128.
