Holiday Happenings at the Performing Arts Center

A number of family-friendly holiday events will take place at the Performing Arts Center during the month of December.

Buffalo Opera Unlimited presents its production of Hansel and Gretel on Friday, December 2, at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 4, at 2:30 p.m. Based on the Brothers Grimm classic, this beloved fairy tale whips together frothy folk tunes with sumptuous orchestration into a deceptively sweet, deliciously dark confection that has delighted families for generations. Buffalo Opera Unlimited’s production of Engelbert Humperdinck’s enduring masterpiece is appropriate for grown-ups and children. The production features a live orchestra, under the direction of Tim Kennedy. Gingerbread cookies will be available for everyone in the audience to take home.

The Buffalo State Music Department presents its annual Winter Choral Spectacular on Thursday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m. The concert features the Buffalo State Chamber Choir, under the direction of Vicky Furby, and the Buffalo State Chorale, under the direction of John Fleischman, with special guests the ABC Bel Canto Choir.

Christmas with The Celtic Tenors features the most successful classical crossover artists ever to emerge from Ireland. The Celtic Tenors live show on Saturday, December 17, at 8:00 p.m. will be overflowing with vitality and variety from start to finish. The unique voices, appeal, and wit of Daryl, James, and Matthew provide a thoroughly uplifting experience. In Christmas with The Celtic Tenors, the group's voices and personalities will shine, alongside their undeniable Celtic charm, beautifully weaving the songs of the season throughout a captivating performance.
