Grad Commons to Open in Library

Butler Library will open a new Graduate Student Commons on the library’s second-floor balcony (formerly the Creative Studies balcony) on Monday, August 18. The space will be open to grad students only from 3:00 p.m. until the library’s closing Monday through Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday (when the library is open). The space is ideal for group or individual work and is designed to accommodate busy graduate students.

The library will also implement new policies for this area. Grad students will have priority for computer use and study areas in the space during the Graduate Student Commons’ open hours.

Many students in Buffalo State’s graduate programs are busy professionals who are balancing work, family, and academics. A dedicated space will allow them to work together, socialize with their peers, and focus on their advanced studies. While the space will be open for grad students on August 18, it is still a work in progress and will be continually improved over the course of the semester. The Graduate Student Association also recently moved its office to Butler Library.
