Governor Cuomo Directs Flags to Half-Staff September 11

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo directed flags on state government buildings to be flown at half-staff today, September 11, in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 men, women, and children who lost their lives in the 2001 terrorist attacks.

"Sixteen years ago, New York endured one of the deadliest and most devastating terrorist attacks America has ever seen," he said. "Today and every day since September 11, 2001, we remember the lives lost and we honor New York's finest and bravest first responders who served as beacons of light during our darkest day.

"As we continue to remember the nearly 3,000 lives taken from us too soon on 9/11, we also honor the dedicated men and women of the United States Armed Forces who fight tirelessly every day for our safety and freedom both at home and abroad."
