GLC-Biology Seminar - 'Causes and Consequences of Social Evolution in Certain Birds and Ants' - September 17

Please join the Biology Department and the Great Lakes Center for the seminar "Causes and Consequences of Social Evolution in Certain Birds and Ants," presented by Gavin Leighton, assistant professor of biology at Buffalo State, on Monday, September 17, from 3:00 to 4:15 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center 424. All students, staff, and faculty are welcome.

Abstract
The evolution of sociality is an important transition from solitary life to individuals living in groups. To understand why individuals might live in groups, this talk explores the factors that drive some species to living in groups. This talk then subsequently considers the consequences of sociality, and how the evolution of sociality might affect the evolution of behavior and communication.
