Buffalo States Fashion and Textile Technology (FTT) Department hosted its annual fashion extravaganza, Runway: Innovation, on April 25 to a sold-out audience. Runway is an entirely student-run event; this year's show combined the efforts of 35 designers, 100 models, and 50 student volunteers.
Outstanding student designers were awarded as follows: Hannah Kea received best in show. Elizabeth Knights received first place and Francine Saternus won second place for senior collection. Jose Moscoso received best student collection; Mary Ann Tran was awarded the Optitex Award for Textile Design. The Marimekko Award for Textile Design went to Merlina Hernandez. Breanna Morelli received the Erica Paige Hoerner Scholarship.
FTT senior Kaitlyn Emminger won the Buffalo State plaid competition. Her design will be in Scotlands official Register of Tartan and available for purchase at the Barnes & Noble at Buffalo State Bookstore starting in fall 2015.
This year was the most successful show to date thanks to presenting sponsor the Eastman Foundation and the many others who support the event's fundraising efforts. Save the date for next years Runway fashion show on April 16, 2016. For more information, visit the Runway website.
