Recent national events have once again highlighted struggles facing students who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual (GLB) on college campuses and people who are GLB in U.S. society. Faculty and staff may have questions and concerns about how to interact with their GLB students and meet their needs on campus. In this “safe space” discussion, we will provide some background information about GLB students and the issues they commonly face on college campuses. We then will discuss ways to sensitively and effectively handle issues that may arise in one-on-one conversations and in classroom settings or other campus activities involving students who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual. Facilitated by faculty from the Women’s Studies Program.
