This faculty and staff discussion follows conversations about issues facing gay, lesbian, and bisexual students, as well as meeting the needs of transgendered students in classrooms and on campus. Growing out of these conversations, this third discussion will focus on various forms of the privilege accorded to high status groups such as heterosexuals, men, and white individuals. The conversation will center on ways to acknowledge, explore, and discuss privilege in the college classroom. In addition, the group will discuss strategies for how to avoid the perpetuation of privilege in other areas of campus life. A light lunch will be provided on Friday, November 19, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Professional Development Center, E. H. Butler Library 181B. Facilitated by Pixita del Prado Hill.
