Faculty Forum: 'Current Global Economic and Financial Chaos' - November 15

Please join members of the Economics and Finance Department for the seminar "Current Global Economic and Financial Chaos" on Tuesday, November 15, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center 424.

The global economic and financial systems have experienced unusual turmoil in the current period, including recovery from the great recession, the pandemic, the pandemic recession, a volatile and declining stock market, a major war, and associated economic sanctions policy. These events have generated discussions about a potential U.S. recession, possibly accompanied by a global recession. What impact has this turbulence had on the economic and financial security of the population? How has it or will it affect monetary and fiscal policy, the industrial structure of the U.S., and the local economy? Four speakers from Buffalo State’s Economics and Finance Department will address these questions during the forum, which is free and open to the public. Professor Xingwang Qian will serve as moderator.

Joelle Leclaire, Professor, “Economic Policy for Difficult Times”

Victor Kasper, Chair and Associate Professor, “Impact of Current Turbulence on U.S. Industrial Capitalism in the Recent Period”

Bruce Fisher, Visiting Professor, “The Regional Impact of the Global Economic Storm”

Ted Byrley, Associate Professor, “Rising Financial Fragility and Risk in the Uncertain Environment”
