Empire Plan Deductibles for 2009

From the Vice President for Finance and Management
Effective January 1, 2009, annual deductibles for M/C, UUP, PEF, NYSCOPBA, and Council 82 employees will increase to $363 per enrollee, $363 per enrolled spouse or domestic partner, and $363 for all dependent children combined. This change reflects the 4.1 percent increase in the medical care component of the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) for July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008.

The annual deductible for CSEA employees will remain at $225.

Empire Plan Coinsurance
Effective January 1, 2009, the coinsurance maximum (out-of-pocket expenses) for the following employees will change to reflect the change in the Consumer Price Index:

M/C, UUP, and PEF: $1,000
NYSCOPBA and Council 82: $1,345
CSEA: $500

The coinsurance maximum will be reduced to $300 for calendar year 2009 for CSEA employees in (or equated to) salary grade 6 or below as of January 1, 2009.

Note: There is no deductible or coinsurance when employees use the Empire Plan Participating Provider Network.
