Advanced to the Curriculum Committee
The following have been received in the College Senate Office and forwarded to the College Senate Curriculum Committee for spring 2020 review:

New Courses:
CIS 388 Service Learning in Computing. Prerequisite: CIS 151 or instructor permission. Participation in organized service-learning activities, offering coding/programming workshops for middle and high school students to address community needs, while enhancing academic knowledge and skills and fostering civic responsibility. Offered every semester, beginning fall 2020.

SLP 301 Advanced Sign Language. Prerequisites: SLP 101 and SLP 102. Final course in the ASL sequence designed to promote advanced competence in ASL conversational skills to a level that is recommended for work in schools and public agencies that serve the deaf and hard-of-hearing population. Offered fall semester, beginning fall 2020.

Course Revision:
NFS 689 Methods of Nutrition Research. Prerequisites: Graduate standing, undergraduate coursework in nutrition research and medical nutrition therapy, and instructor permission. Advanced knowledge of nutrition research design; planning, collection, treatment, and interpretation of research data; application of nutrition research methods and statistical analysis as related to the development of a nutrition research proposal. Students develop and present to the advisory committee a proposal for individual research projects. Offered summer and fall semesters, beginning fall 2020.

SLP 205 Introduction to Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Introduction to the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology. Discussion of the roles, responsibilities, and potential employment settings for each profession. Review of communication and writing competencies needed for professional success. Offered fall semester, beginning fall 2020.

SLP 206 Building Social Connections: Communication, Language, and Conversation. Introduction to the constructs of communication, language, and conversation. Impact of communication, language, and conversational skills in daily life. Discussion of the development of communication, language, and conversation of children birth to 5 years old. Offered spring semester, beginning spring 2021.
