The following have been received in the College Senate Office and forwarded to the College Senate Curriculum Committee for Spring 2022 review.
New Course:
ENG 639 Studies of Literary Genres. Prerequisite: Graduate standing or instructor permission. Introduction to studies in a particular literary genre, such as the novel, poetry, drama, or film. Course content may be thematically or historically based. Offered once a year, beginning in spring 2023.
Course Revisions:
MAT 381 Probability Theory. Prerequisites: MAT 127 or MAT 162 and MAT 270.
Calculus-based introduction to the theory of probability and its applications; axioms of probability and theorems; discrete and continuous random variables; joint, marginal, and conditional distributions; independence of events; mathematical expectation; moment generating functions; and application of special probability distributions and densities. Offered fall semester, beginning fall 2023.
MED 308 Methods in the Teaching of Secondary School Mathematics. Prerequisites: Minimum of 30 hours of MAT courses with a GPA of 2.75. Minimum of 9 hours of professional courses including MED 200 and MED 307 with a GPA of 2.5. Instructor permission. Corequisite: MED 300. Introduction to research-based practices that lead to success for all students; practices that support learning in culturally responsive environments and respond to learners with unique needs; instruction that effectively integrates technology; national and state standards and standards-based curricula; national and international achievement data; assessment practices; lesson design. Offered as needed, beginning spring 2023.
