Advanced to the Curriculum Committee
The following have been received in the College Senate Office and forwarded to the Senate Curriculum Committee for review and approval:

New Program:
B.A. International Relations

New Courses:
FRE 660 Haitian Literature in Sociocultural Context. Prerequisite: Graduate status or instructor permission. Taught in French. The novel as vehicle for social activism and venue for exploring the syncretic nature of Haitian identity. Exploration of the ideology, objectives, rhetoric, and literary symbolism of key Haitian activist authors.

MUS 315 Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Prerequisite: Instructor permission. Study and performance of vocal jazz music within an ensemble of 12–16 auditioned musicians. Traditional approaches and skills to the performance and study of vocal jazz music will be developed while significantly expanding the student’s knowledge of vocal jazz repertoire, performance practice, and vocal techniques.

MUS 624 Social Commentary in Musical Theater. Prerequisite: Matriculation in master of music education degree program (Mus.M.). Overview of the history, evolution, and impact of musical stage entertainment as it relates to specific social and political issues and causes; development of prominent stage forms in relation to their intended or unintended social contributions, moral lessons, political purposes, and artistic symbolism.

MUS 641 Repertoire and Ensemble Leadership. Prerequisites: Matriculation in master of music education degree program (Mus.M.) and instructor permission. In-depth overview of the leadership, conducting, and programming skills required for music educators, with added emphasis on ensemble psychology, rehearsal management, score preparation, and concert planning.

THA 232 Stage Management. Prerequisite: THA 106 or THA 216 or instructor permission. Instruction in the duties, responsibilities, and techniques of a successful stage manager. Preparation of all materials needed to run a rehearsal and maintain a performance as the stage manager. Participation in one of the departmental productions to explore hands-on work and interactive experiences.

THA 236 Drafting for the Theater. Prerequisite: Instructor permission. A study of basic drafting principles as they relate to theatrical design. Computer-aided ground plans, elevations, and sections.

THA 338 Digital Design Media for Theater. Prerequisite: Instructor permission. Introduction to fundamental skills in current area-specific software programs for the realization and presentation of theatrical designs.
