Posted: Thursday, September 16, 2010Constitution Day Celebration: Students to Debate Arizona Immigration Legislation
All are welcome to listen and participate in a debate of Arizona Senate Bill 1070. This law requires local law enforcement officials within the state of Arizona to determine an individual's immigration status if there is a reasonable suspicion of that individual’s legal status. Passage of the law has resulted in a number of public demonstrations throughout the country both in favor and in opposition of the law. Peter Yacobucci, assistant professor of political science, will moderate the debate starting at 9:25 a.m. today, Thursday, September 16, in Upton Hall 230. Please join the debate and come celebrate the United States Constitution.
