From the Chair of the College Senate Bylaws and Elections Committee
The SUNY University Faculty Senate (UFS) is asking faculty and staff members to approve or disapprove of amendments to the Policies of the Board of Trustees and identical sections of the UFS bylaws regarding the positions of president and vice president/secretary of the UFS.
These amendments would
- require that the VP/secretary resign his or her position as a senator upon election;
- designate that the VP/secretary remain a member of the UFS;
- provide that an incumbent VP/secretary be eligible for reelection to a second term;
- provide that an incumbent VP/secretary be eligible to run for the position of president of the UFS;
- clarify that if an interim president or VP/secretary were elected due to a vacancy, he or she would be eligible for two full terms if elected to fill less than half of a remaining term.
The survey can be found on the Buffalo State website. The option is to approve or disapprove of the amendments. All SUNY campuses are conducting a similar survey with their voting constituents.
The survey notification was e-mailed to all eligible voters on Tuesday, March 5. The survey will close on Friday, March 15.
For further information about the referendum, please see V3 Ratification Process SUNY Referendum Reference. Thank you.
