Dear Buffalo State College Community:
I wanted to write and update you briefly and very generally on the progress of our presidential search. Your committee has been working hard and is making excellent progress in my opinion.
The fairly recent visit by our search consultant and the very solid participation and feedback she received during her trip, combined with our advertisements in a broad array of academic journals, our institutional profile, and our excellent reputation have all served us well. We are attracting strong interest among highly qualified candidates for the Buffalo State president’s position.
As you may recall, all of the search committee members signed confidentiality agreements so I can’t discuss detail regarding our candidates. However, we believe we are on track with our goal of presenting a few highly qualified candidates to campus after winter break. More details will follow as we confirm those dates.
I want to thank you for respecting the importance of confidentiality to a successful recruiting process and thank you for understanding why our committee members must be so tight-lipped. We will lose our prospective candidates quickly and potentially compromise their status at their home institution if we cannot assure their confidentiality.
I want to say how much the entire College Council appreciates the excellent job that Interim President Ponton and the entire team is doing at Buffalo State to keep moving forward in the very positive trajectory that we have become accustomed to and proud of.
I want to publicly thank the many members of our search committee who continue to be a pleasure to work with. Their active attendance, preparedness, participation, and open-mindedness are an excellent reflection of our college, and is a primary reason I have such confidence of a successful outcome to our search.
