Call for Volunteers: Become a Docent at the Burchfield Penney

Applications are being accepted for the 2019 Burchfield Penney docent class. Do you love art and people? Do you have the ability to think creatively, possess a true passion for learning, and have a desire to connect museum visitors to art and ideas? Are you enthusiastic, interested in sparking conversation, and committed to creating a unique and meaningful experience for all? If so, you will make an excellent docent!

Burchfield Penney docents are museum volunteers trained as teaching guides. Docents bridge the viewer and the artwork, igniting conversation and curiosity. Our tour program uses an inquiry-based education model. Tours of all kinds are conducted at the museum, including those for school groups, adults, seniors, and social organizations.

Being a docent provides many opportunities for fun and friendship while you learn and grow through the arts. Docents have been an integral part of developing initiatives such as our Docent Library, Burchfield Penney Book Club, and an array specialty tour programs.

For information, please e-mail Mary Kozub, head of education, or see the docent FAQ page (PDF, 202 KB) on the Burchfield Penney website.
