Buffalo State Volunteers to Offer Free Tax Preparation Services

Volunteers at Buffalo State College will offer free tax preparation services this tax season to individuals and families of Western New York with gross incomes of less than $50,000 per year. Buffalo State is one of eight sites partnering with the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County’s Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope (CASH) coalition to offer free tax services in 2011.

Help is available from fully-trained volunteer preparers starting January 31 through April 13 on the Buffalo State campus in Bacon Hall 106A. Walk-in preparation will be offered on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., while appointment-only service will be available Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Appointments can be requested by calling ext. 5907.

Residents and families are asked to bring photo identification, social security cards, wage and earning statements and a copy of last year’s Federal and State returns if available.

For more information, please contact Brandi Moses, senior staff assistant, Continuing Professional Studies, at ext. 5907.
