Amy Pedlow, assistant chief of University Police, will join law enforcement officers from across the country at the Freedom Tower in New York City to participate in a 270-mile bicycle ride to Boston, Massachusetts. The 2015 Tour de Force 9/11 Memorial Ride will depart with 300 riders from New York City today, September 10, and cycle through the lower Hudson valley, past the lush countryside of Connecticut and over the rolling hills of Massachusetts. An additional 150 cyclists from the Boston area will join the ride for the last leg as the tour rolls into Boston Harbor for Sean’s Ride, a ride dedicated to the memory of MIT Police Officer Sean Collier, before coming to an end on Sunday, September 13, at the Boston Marathon finish line.
The Tour de Force's dual mission is to honor the victims of 9/11 by keeping their memory alive through cycling events, and to raise funds to benefit the families of police officers who are killed in the line of duty nationwide each year. This will be the sixth year that Pedlow is riding. She will share pictures of her journey through the University Police Facebook page.
