Black History Event: Cheryl Finley to Speak on 'Mixing Histories: Contemporary Art and the Reimaging of Slavery'

Cheryl Finley, associate professor and director of visual studies in the History of Art and Visual Studies Department at Cornell University, will present "Mixing History: Contemporary Art and the Reimaging of Slavery" on Wednesday, March 5, at 3:00 p.m. in E. H. Butler Library 210. This presentation will focus on the image of the slave ship and deal with artists such as Romare Bearden. This event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.

This talk (which was rescheduled from a snow day in February) is in honor of Black History Month and is sponsored by the African and African American studies program, the Fine Arts Department, and the Faculty-Student Association Founders Fund.
