Attention Campus Web Publishers

On Wednesday, January 5, between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and noon, the college's web servers will be turned into "virtual machines." This move is designed to consolidate resources and enhance hardware support. During this seven-hour window it is requested that no updates be made to any website residing under the www.buffalostate.edu domain (this includes department and office sites, self-published web pages, and any web destination residing on the main college server). Site updates made during this time may be lost.

The college website and sub-sites will still be viewable to users during this period, with the exception of a 10-minute window when the actual cutover to the virtual machines is done. Note that this brief downtime may happen at any point during the seven-hour period. After the virtualization, publishers should notice no difference in how they access their sites or make edits.
