Artist Lecture: Christopher Priore

Artist Christopher Priore will present a lecture on Thursday, February 13, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center North 2C.

A pioneer of skywriting as an art genre in the 1980s, Priore—born in Buffalo and raised in Pittsburgh—was a leader among his transformative generation of young artists in Southwestern Pennsylvania before relocating to Manhattan in 1990, where he continues his art practice today. Priore brings a fresh outlook and renewed vigor to his work as an artist and educator, having earned his master of fine arts degree from Savannah College of Art and Design’s Painting Department in 2010. He holds a bachelor of fine arts from the Carnegie Mellon University School of Art.

Priore’s artistic trajectory is one of sustained explorations into perception, materiality, beauty, light, gravity, site, narrative, and audience involvement. His art has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States, as well as in Germany, Russia, Japan, France, and Italy with continuing discussion in all forms of media, including the New York Times, Art in America, Sculpture, ELLE and YouTube.
