From the Chief of University Police
I am pleased to announce the appointment of James Byrne and Eric Meyer, university police officers, to the Buffalo State College University Police Department. Byrne and Meyer graduated from the Erie County Law Enforcement Training Academy in June, completing a 20-week course curriculum of approximately 800 hours of instruction that meets and in most cases exceeds New York State requirements as mandated by the Municipal Police Training Council. The curriculum comprises proficiency skill areas of training that include firearms, arrest techniques, emergency vehicle operation, use of force issues, community policing, and diversity issues. Byrne and Meyer will undergo extensive training with experienced officers in our departments field training program.
