The annual Design Foundations Exhibition opens today, April 5, at 9:00 a.m., in the Dr. Margaret E. Bacon Student Gallery on the ground floor of Upton Hall.
On display are two- and three-dimensional works created by students in DES 101, DES 102, DES 103, and DES 307 courses, selected by foundations faculty members Missy Crowell, Jerry Mead, Colleen Toledano, Carol Townsend, and Robert Wood.
Show hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This exhibition will also be open Thursday, April 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., concurrent with the reception for the annual Student Design Exhibition in the Czurles-Nelson Gallery. The Design Foundations Exhibition closes Friday, April 15.
Courses in the foundations program prepare visual arts students for study in their major programs and involve in-depth assignments stressing composition and form, idea development, design process, problem-solving, and color dynamics while strengthening skills and control.
